Slave Quarters Series
These paintings of slave quarters and other African American sites, painted between 2001 - 2006, were shown in a major exhibition at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, Hagerstown, Maryland, 2005; the Athenaeum Gallery, Alexandria, VA; the Loudoun Campus of the Northern Virginia Community College, 2007; Dulles International Airport, 2008; and at the Weinstein JCC in Richmond, VA during October and November 2008. They were exhibited at the George Washington University Virginia Campus, January to March 2009. Some were included in an exhibition entitled, "Sites of Conscience," at the Cosmos Club of Washington, DC in January to May, 2013. They are now part of the permanent collection of the Alexandria Black History Museum, Alexandria, Virginia. View samples of the collection below. All works are acrylic on paper.
